What a Skin Scan Shows That a Mirror Does Not
The Observ 320 looks at your skin in four kinds of light, so decisions about facials and peels start from images instead of guesses.

Most of us judge our skin in a bathroom mirror, under one kind of light, usually in a hurry. That view is useful, but it's limited. It shows what's on the surface and not much more. The Observ 320 skin analysis at Glow Facial Bar is built to show more, so the choices you make about facials, peels, and products start from images instead of guesses.
What the Observ 320 does
The Observ 320 takes high-resolution images of your skin in multiple lighting modes. We use four: daylight, cross-polarized, parallel-polarized, and true UV. Each one shows a different layer of information, which is why a single scan can reveal more than a long look in the mirror.
Our menu describes it as a step beyond a basic visual consultation. Instead of relying only on what an esthetician can see by eye, the images give us data to work from. Every facial, peel, or product recommendation we make after a scan can be based on what the images show.
What it can reveal
Here's what we say the scan can bring to light:
- Sun damage
- Pigmentation
- Oil production
- Clogged pores
- Dehydration
- Barrier health
- Fine lines
- Redness and inflammation
Some of those are easy to spot in a mirror, like redness. Others are harder. Imaging methods like cross-polarized and UV light are commonly used in skin analysis to look past surface glare and show what's going on under the surface. If you've ever wondered why one patch of your face always looks uneven even though your routine is consistent, this is the kind of view that can help answer it.
Why different lights matter
Think about how a room looks under a bright lamp compared to soft daylight. Details appear and disappear. Skin works the same way. Normal light shows you color and shine. Polarized light cuts down on glare, so texture and pigment stand out. UV imaging is commonly used to show pigment and other details that regular light can hide. Ask your esthetician to walk you through each image on the screen, because seeing your own face in four lights is the best way to understand it.
A scan is not a medical diagnosis. If you have a mole, a rash, or any skin change that worries you, a dermatologist is the right person to see. What the scan does well is help you and your esthetician understand your skin for the purpose of skincare.
Two scans, one visit
The Observ 320 Skin Analysis is $105 and includes 2 scans: an initial scan before treatment, and another at the end. That second scan is where it gets interesting, because you can see the before and after of that day's treatment side by side instead of relying on memory.
Over time, the images also work as a visual baseline. If you're doing a series of facials or peels, you can compare scans and see what's changing. That makes a plan easier to adjust. If something isn't moving the way you hoped, you'll know, and you can talk about a different approach.
Booking it, and what it counts toward
The skin analysis can be booked on its own or added to a treatment. It also comes with a credit toward any facial treatment package of 6 or more sessions, or any peel package of 3. Ask how the credit applies when you book, so you know how it fits with the package you have in mind.
It's especially useful at a few moments: before your first peel, when you're deciding between express and advanced facials, or when you've been trying products for months and can't tell whether they're working. A scan gives the conversation something concrete to look at.
What to bring to the appointment
Come with a short list: the products you use now, anything that has bothered your skin lately, and the one change you'd most like to see. Those answers combine with the images to build a plan that fits you. Our menu lists the benefits as identifying conditions before they appear, a visual baseline for tracking progress, a plan built around your skin, and sharper product advice.
The Find Your Facial quiz on our site is a good starting point if you want a head start, but the scan goes further because it looks at your actual skin instead of your description of it.
