What Happens in a 30-Minute Express Facial

Thirty minutes sounds short for a facial until you see how much of the work is in the order of the steps. At Glow Facial Bar, every express facial is built around three jobs: a refreshing cleanse, gentle exfoliation, and nourishing hydration. That's the whole recipe, and keeping it tight is the point. Here's what each step does, how our six express facials differ, and how to pick the one that fits your skin right now.

The three steps, in order

Cleanse. Every facial starts with a clean surface. Makeup, sunscreen, oil, and the day's dust all sit on the skin, and no product can do much while that layer is in the way. A thorough cleanse clears it so everything after it can actually reach your skin, and it gives your esthetician a clear look at what your skin is doing.

Exfoliate. Skin sheds dead cells all the time, but not always evenly, and the leftovers can leave a complexion looking dull or feeling rough. Gentle exfoliation helps lift that layer so skin looks smoother and fresher. The word gentle matters here. An express facial is meant to be something you can do on a lunch break and walk out of with no recovery plan. If you want a stronger exfoliating service, the menu also has dermaplaning, microdermabrasion, and peels, and each of those has its own article on this blog.

Hydrate. The last step puts moisture back. Well-hydrated skin tends to look plumper and more even, which is a big part of why a fresh facial reads as a glow. Products are worked in until your skin feels comfortable instead of tight, and then you're back out the door.

Six express facials to choose from

All six are 30 minutes, and extractions are not included in any of them. Five are $75 and one is $85. Here's how our menu describes each one:

  • Pure-Fection, $75: for a break-out, aimed at helping you move on from clogged, congested skin.
  • Ready Set Glow, $75: hydration for your best face forward, suited to busy days and special occasions.
  • Enlighten & Brighten, $75: designed to lighten dark spots and brighten your skin.
  • Turn Back Time, $75: for mature skin; it hydrates, exfoliates, and firms.
  • Hey Guy, $75: just for the fellas, geared to clean, hydrate, and defend against the effects of shaving.
  • Really Turn Back Time, $85: an advanced version of Turn Back Time, performed with SkinCeuticals products.

Those are the prices on our menu today. If you want to double-check one before you book, call and we'll confirm it.

How to choose without overthinking it

Start with what your skin is doing right now, not what it did last year. Skin shifts with the seasons, stress, travel, and whatever new product you tried last month. If you've got a few fresh breakouts and clogged pores, Pure-Fection is the one built for that. If your skin is flat or dry ahead of an event, Ready Set Glow is the hydration pick. If dark spots are what you notice in the mirror, look at Enlighten & Brighten.

If fine lines and firmness are on your mind, Turn Back Time is written for mature skin, and Really Turn Back Time is the step up at $85. The extra $10 gets you a service performed with SkinCeuticals products, which is the detail our menu points to. Hey Guy covers the shaving side. It cleans, hydrates, and helps defend skin against the effects of shaving, and it's the one we made for the guys.

Still stuck? Our site has a Find Your Facial quiz. Its first question asks what you want to work on, with answers like breakouts and congestion, pigmentation and uneven tone, fine lines, dryness, dullness, redness and sensitivity, or texture and pores. There's an answer for multiple concerns and one for not sure, and both are honest answers. Your esthetician can take it from there.

What extractions and add-ons do

Extractions are the one step the express facials leave out, and they're available as an add-on starting at $5+. They gently remove clogged pores for clearer-looking skin. If congestion is the main reason you're booking, say so when you call or check in, so the visit can be planned around it.

A few other add-ons are worth knowing about: an eye treatment for $10, a mask starting at $10+, high frequency starting at $5+ to target breakouts and bacteria, and a facial massage for $30 that adds 15 minutes. Add-ons are optional. Plenty of people book the plain express facial and add nothing.

What the visit feels like

We're an open concept facial bar, so there's no maze of closed doors. The room is bright, with white chairs, hardwood floors, and daylight through the front glass, and clients recline in a row. If you picture a long, hushed spa day, this is the opposite on purpose. It's built for people who want spa-style results in a short appointment: a lunch break, an after-work stop, or a quick refresh before an event.

Our hours help with that. We're open 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM Tuesday through Thursday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Friday and Saturday, 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Monday, and 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Sunday. One note on booking: online bookings need a credit card on file, and we have a 24-hour cancellation policy. Late cancellations and missed appointments are subject to a fee.

To book, call (720) 269-4430 or schedule online. We're at 2808 E 6th Ave in Cherry Creek, and an express facial fits between most things on your calendar.
